A bit about my books
I started writing the Chronicles of Divinia because I’m interested in people – not heroes or villains, but individuals trying to do the right thing under pressure.

Like many people, I’ve spent much of my life striving to be better: a better professional, a better creator, a better partner and parent. Divinia grew out of that feeling, scaled into a fantasy world where gods, regions, families, and individuals all carry expectations they struggle to live up to.

Although the world of Divinia is fantastical, the emotions at its heart are ordinary: fear, pride, loyalty, love, and the desire to be worthy. No character is evil simply for the sake of it. Every conflict is shaped by experience, environment, and choice – and by moments where something no longer feels right.

The series explores how small, human decisions can ripple outward into lasting consequence. Understanding does not always lead to forgiveness, and change is never without cost – but choosing differently still matters.

At its core, Divinia is a story about co-existence in a complicated world, and the fragile hope that even when perfection fails, good can still emerge.
A bit about me
My name is Glen Harrington and I live in Loughborough (England) with my wife Lydia, my two children Magnus and Caspian, and my dog Riley. Between my home life and my writing I work for the children's charity the Youth Sport Trust as part of their Corporate Communications team.

I have enjoyed writing from a very young age - from writing stories at school, to covering local sports events as a match reporter, to pursuing a career in journalism. However, writing a novel has always been at the top of my personal bucket list.
Throughout both my child and adult life I have enjoyed reading fantasy books aimed at young adults. Here are just a few of my favourites which inspired me:
-
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
-
The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins
-
The Divergent series by Veronica Roth
-
The Black Magician series by Trudi Canavan
-
The Maze Runner series by James Dashner
-
The Shadowhunter series by Cassandra Clare
-
The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken
-
The Legend series by Marie Lu
-
The Eragon series by Christopher Paolini.

If you are familiar with the genre, you may even notice that one of my children shares his name with a character from one of these series!

I started working on the Chronicles of Divinia in the summer of 2024, just before the birth of my second child, to give me a world to escape into when the pressures of everyday life became too much. Now, it has become more than an escapism, it's my passion - and a legacy my boys will hopefully be proud of.
